Just so we are clear: Applying your own trim sucks! It does look good but the process sucks!

When you use trim in the future for the brass trim effect use the 3-5oz. deerskin for a thicker trim, over the next year I will get some and change out what I am using, however, this will do for now. I will need to dye the straps but that will be when I get home.

Now I am not wearing the chainmail hauberk that would go under the breast plate, nor the cup, knee pads, or gorget. This was done to get a picture but rest assured I have all these items and will bring them to bear during war practice this coming Sunday. Now on to the treadmill to learn how this wears on me over the course of a mile.

Okay,

Here is the chest piece nearing completion and I am out of dye for the rest of the chest straps so they will be natural color when I attach them.

Yay for update!

Thanks,

Well here is a quick shot of the finished shoulders on my only gambeson (padded jacket).

My what strong shoulders you have - hahahaha!

Bad joke or not, but I couldn't think of a better way to introduce the third part in the chest piece since my shoulders tie onto the chest piece. I re-fitted the spaulders with blue plates from Eldesarian Metalworks. Ahh and the lacing I had to modify the leather strap attaching them but I think it went pretty darn good. Now I still need to trim the bottom and buckle and strap to the lower lames.

I know your thinking Medieval Geek & Tech Slave but where's the tech? Hello, anodized blue aluminium lamellar plates! Come on its like I got blue scales off a lightning or frost dragon (ha nerd moment...)! Tech used for medieval ends is awesome because the S.C.A. is the modern middle ages and I know if knights had access to this stuff back then they would make use of it.

Besides it looks cool :-)

So we are closer to our objective of a full suit, the only piece I am left to work with is the lamellar and leather breastplate. This is part two, much trimming left to do. I only dyed the exterior of the leather and tried to include my house colors ( http://houseinverted.org ). I found an axe stamp to use on the blue leather.

Tedious, but sexy cool when done !!!

Putting a Lamellar breastplate together with plates from Eldesarian Metal Works and you have seen the thigh plates I made so far in "this post." Well here are some of the progress pictures I have so far.

This portion is the part that wraps around my torso, and I have gotten my arms (bazubans) back. Working on the gauntlets issue but other than hands I will have a full suit of 13th - 14th century Rus Nobleman armour.

Woot!

I have decided to start a company, AZ-RUNE Computing: "Leave the mystery to us." We have our first client and I have learned a great deal about project management, but more about communication.

I know in earlier posts I have gone on about the duplicity of phrases we use given the context they are used in but I have learned the value of repetition in making sure you and another party have got a clear understanding of an idea. More so that your idea and theirs is on the same page so the vision of the finish is shared by all. It has been most enlightening and I have been blessed with a fantastic team that I am learning from them I think as much as I share.

On a side note I think at my current job at P.M.N. I do appreciate the work the V.P. of Network Ops does a great deal more. I am trying to be a better employee from this experience because of a concept the S.C.A. taught me.

"Almost all good knights were squires first."

Ok, I am trying to get in shape to fight in the Estrella War this coming February so I remember a friend and this old security training video say "...train as you fight..."

However, what does a tech geek do to train for a medieval sport such as the Society of Creative Anachronism?

Wearing Armour on the Elliptical Machine!!!

So to my brothers and sisters in House Inverted I am working on getting in shape so running on the field won't cause me to question whether or not I am an asthmatic! Ha!

Take care,
